Material and Process Gallery
Traditional techniques of dyeing, preparation of yarn, weaving, decorative weaving, other styles of decoration etc. are the arduous processes. These have been altered or modified to a large extant. For example the Jala weaving of Banaras brocade is now taken over by jacquard weaving. Samples of traditional techniques of weaving, dyeing, block printing, embroidery etc. are the testimony to the skills of traditional weavers, crafts persons etc. Highlights of traditional materials, tools, equipment, vegetable dyes, yarns etc. are showcased in the Material and Process gallery. An interactive platform with a work station is also on hand. Here visitors may try their hand at Indian block printing onto white fabric.
